Don Latham – man of God

Dear friends, it is with some sadness that we have to report that Don Latham, a foundational Trustee of the Filling Station, died on Saturday February 8th.  Don was an anointed, wise and impressive man of God who epitomised a Biblical ‘life in the Holy Spirit’ as a believer.  Formerly the Chief Executive of West Wiltshire County Council where for many years he was a profound example of how to live out his Christian life in a normal working context, Don always had a desire for business people to come to faith.  One of his books, entitled ‘A faith that works’, was reprinted due to popular demand and is described by many as seminal on faith in the workplace.

He set up various Christian ministries over the years and was a regular speaker at gatherings, such as Spring Harvest.  For many years he was on the board of the British arm of the FGBF (the ‘Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship’).  In the last few years he established a men’s breakfast meeting called ‘MenUnited’, which had various chapters around S.West England and Wales.  He became one of the foundational Trustees at the Filling Station Trust, and he brought an inspiring combination of wise business management skills, with high risk taking faith in action.  Most certainly the Filling Station with it’s 104 active meetings around the world, would not be where it is today without Don’s steady hand and encouragement.  We thank God for his life and service and our prayers are with his widow, Hilary.   Most certainly he, and heaven, will be rejoicing now as he sees his Lord and saviour face to face.
