July meeting report

This month several prophesies were given before we heard our speaker….
1. ‘For I called you out of darkness into the light, for indeed, there is no darkness at all’.
2. Someone saw an oblong picture: ‘Someone was inside and could not find a way out. There was a small inlet of light & a tapping noise –
God is coming to rescue you…relax and wait for Him to lift you out.’
3. Someone saw a broken gate or door which had not been fixed. The Lord says through the broken door, He wants you to seek Him. Listen –
let yourself hear what He will say through the broken gate/door.’
4. Someone is being set free but they are looking back to Egypt. The Lord says, Don’t look back at Egypt – it is the world. Don’t miss the gold,
etc. Repent and walk – this is the way, walk in it. Egypt is nothing compared to My Way, says the Lord.’
Our Speaker, Matt, read Philippians 4:13 ‘I can do all things…’ then told us about his extraordinary life, starting as a P.E. teacher in secondary school, where he realised boys in Years 9-13 became bored in the classroom and should be given new and fresh ways of learning.
He moved into professional sport as a Football Referee where he faced lots of conflict with people who disagreed with his decisions, but he persevered and did well, although all the while he felt there was a ‘big hole’ in his life and didn’t know what was missing.
Over the years, God brought several people into his life – each one helping him along the path to Jesus, but his refereeing became his object of worship. Matt began to realise that ‘someone’ was helping him while he was on the football pitch and, eventually, he started an exercise group for 15 boys who were failing at school and, unsurprisingly, getting into trouble. Unfortunately, the changes needed in British education, Years 9 – 13, have still not taken place.
God led Matt and his family to New Zealand for six years where he headed-up meetings with a group of up to 200 boys who, through various poor experiences with school etc. some suffered mental issues. During this time, Matt was invited to ‘A Pint & A Prayer’ meetings in a local pub where many came to faith, including himself, hallelujah!. He read Hebrews 12 verse 1: ‘Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.’ Matt finished by saying ‘when God guides He provides and what He calls us to do, He equips us to do. He just wants us to be committed to Him.
