#MyFillingStation – South Lakes Filling Station
The South Lakes Filling Station started in October 2019, six months after Jo and Richard Fothergill had moved up from Bath, to The Lake District.
Richard says, “After talking to friends in the rural county, there seemed to be a lack of anywhere we could worship properly in a modern and celebratory way. There weren’t many opportunities to do prayer ministry either, although the teaching was good.”
Richard and Jo believed there would be a market for both those: and started their meeting in a local Brewery. Pre- lockdown, the minimum attendance would be around 38 and the highest attendance 80.
Continuing meeting online during lockdown has enabled the South Lakes Filling Station a greater reach. People tuned in from Inverness, Ayrshire and the Gower Peninsular, and East Anglia, and London – and even Bulgaria! The J.John Christmas outreach event had over 600 views on YouTube.
Richard says, “The South Lakes Filling has been delighted to have a high proportion of anointed and experienced women teachers. The majority of speakers at our monthly meetings so far have been women. The last was the internationally renowned author and evangelist, Julie Sheldon.”
The plan is to re-start meeting in person in October at a different venue.
The team: Richard, Jo, Maggie, Sarah, Simon & Di, David & Debby, Amanda & Nathan.
